Advanced Bioengineering and Healthcare Materials

Advanced Bioengineering and Healthcare Materials

Advanced Bioengineering and Healthcare Materials (BIHEALTH) is an interdisciplinary master's program, taught in English, dedicated to training specialists in the emerging fields of bioengineering and health technologies.

The program integrates knowledge from engineering, materials science, biology, and digital technologies, providing advanced training in areas such as biomaterials, regenerative medicine, tissue engineering, bioprinting, molecular modeling, medical image analysis, and machine learning applied to bioengineering.

Students benefit from access to the modern research infrastructure of the Faculty of Chemical Engineering and Biotechnologies, including laboratories dedicated to the synthesis and characterization of biomaterials, cell cultures, tissue engineering, bioprinting and computational modeling.

The international character of BIHEALTH is supported by the collaborations developed within the European alliance EELISA, the program being designed in the context of initiatives for the development of joint study programs and European academic mobility. Teaching in English facilitates the participation of international students and integration into a multicultural academic environment.

Through its highly applicative and research component, BIHEALTH prepares graduates for the development of innovative materials and technologies for health, as well as for the continuation of doctoral studies and building a career in research, the biomedical industry, the pharmaceutical industry, the field of biomaterials and medical devices.

Acquired Skills and Abilities
Graduates of the BIHEALTH program will acquire interdisciplinary skills in bioengineering, biomaterials, and health technologies, including biomaterials design and characterization, bioprinting, and tissue engineering, biological systems modeling, biomedical image analysis, and the use of machine learning techniques. They will also develop research, analysis, and innovation skills, as well as the ability to integrate engineering, biological, and digital knowledge for the development of advanced biomedical solutions and technologies.
Employment Opportunities
Graduates of the BIHEALTH program can pursue careers in the biomedical and pharmaceutical industry, the biomaterials and medical device industry, research and innovation centers, analysis and development laboratories, as well as companies specializing in health technologies. The program also provides a solid foundation for further studies through doctoral programs and a career in academic research.
Further Professional Development of Graduation
BIHEALTH graduates can continue their professional development through doctoral studies, research and innovation activities, advanced specializations and participation in national and international projects. The interdisciplinary and international character of the program facilitates the development of a career in academia, research centers or the biomedical industry, as well as involvement in European projects and collaborations with industrial partners.
