During the last years, our research team studied collagen-chitosan membranes with and without silver proving their effect in enhancing antibacterial activity. The bactericidal action was more evident in the Escherichia coli case. The experimental study continued with the collagen-chitosan membranes and immobilized alkaline phosphatase (ALP), their haemolytic properties and cells viability being better than that registered on the simple collagen or chitosan membranes.
