On September 30, 2016, the event "Researchers' Night" took place in the University Square in Bucharest, an event attended by students and teaching staff from the Faculty of Applied Chemistry and Materials Science. "Researchers' Night" is an event held annually in over 300 cities in Europe. This year, in Romania, "Researchers' Night" took place in Alba Iulia, Arad, Bacau, Brasov, Bucharest, Constanta, Cugir, Deva, Galati, Iasi, Oradea, Piatra Neamt, Sibiu, Suceava, Targoviste, Tulcea and Zalau.
At the faculty's stand, representative results of the research activity were exhibited, arousing the visitors' interest in a career as a chemical engineer. Also, some entertaining experiments were carried out, in order to familiarize the general public with the mysterious world of chemistry, namely:
• Toothpaste for elephants;
• Kebab from balloons;
• Lava lamp;
• Natural indicators from red cabbage.
The people behind the experiments were volunteers from the student organizations POLI Chemist Student Association and the Young Chemists Section from the Society of Chemistry from ROMANIA: Ionela Andreea NEACSU, Andrada ALECU, Alexandra ALECU, Adrian Alexandru PIRVAN, Vladimir Lucian ENE, Robert TINCU, Anca Elena COSTEA, Denisa CROITORU, Cristina PATRASCU, Mircea NECULA and Cristiana CONSTATIN.
